LiquaPar
PN is a 100% active, clear, stable, liquid blend of Methyl, Ethyl,
Propyl, and Butyl esters of Parahydroxybenzoic Acid with
Phenoxyethanol. It is effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative
bacteria, yeast, and mold providing broad spectrum activity for global
formulations. It does not contain halo-organic components,
formaldehyde, or formaldehyde releasers.
LiquaPar PN is approved worldwide making it an ideal broad spectrum preservative for a wide variety of personal care products. |
 |
| Applications |
 |
In
most systems, LiquaPar PN should be incorporated at a concentration
range of 0.5-1.0% by weight of the finished formulation and can be used
in a pH range of 3.0-7.5. |
 |
For
more complex formulations, a dual preservation system of 1.0% LiquaPar
PN in combination with 0.2% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid salt (EDTA)
has proven effective. |
 |
In
emulsion systems, LiquaPar PN can be added to the preemulsion water or
oil phase or added post-emulsification at 60-70°C during the
manufacture of the formulation. |
 |
Although
Phenoxyethanol is slightly volatile, LiquaPar PN is stable at
temperatures up to 85°C, but it is always best to add preservatives at
the coolest possible temperature. |
 |
For cold mixed systems, add LiquaPar PE early in the process to allow for adequate mixing. |
|
 |
| Every
cosmetic formulation requires a specific preservative system to meet
its individual needs. Therefore, every newly developed or modified
product should be challenge tested to assure
preservative efficacy. |
